You finally have your business’ website live! Awesome. So now what do you do with it? From here you will want to keep it active, give your customers something to interact with, and show your customers you know what you are talking about.
A website is one of the first places your customer is going to go before calling you, or going to your storefront. The website is going to go show them if you are someone they should trust, or if they should move on to someone else! Check out below some great practices for your website now that you have one.
Without getting into the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) side of things, having great engaging content on your site is very important.
This can be things like articles about your product or service, how-to’s that relate to your business, or even videos that you have recorded. These articles are a way for your customer to connect to you.
However with this, you need to make sure your content comes out regularly. You will want to decide how often this looks like for you and stick to that. Even if its only once per month, and a quick article at that.
What you don’t want is to post 2-3 articles in the beginning, and then never post again as this can make your website look abandoned. Think of this as a part of your marketing plan.
Update your site, please
This is something that a lot of people forget, or neglect to do. Whether you built the site yourself, or had a company like us here at WebDev7B build the site. It will probably have been built on a CMS (Content Management System) like WordPress or the like.
Within this CMS you will be able to update your plugins, the framework, and other things. It will probably bug you until you do it.
These updates most of the time are for security reasons, and the last thing you want is a security issue. Nobody wants their business’ website taken over.
Include your website in your marketing plan
You have spent good money, and/or time on your website. Now make sure it is seen! Here are somethings to keep in mind in this area.
- Add to business cards
- Talk about your site with friends and family, they will be your biggest promoters

- Create and schedule regular content on the site
- Think about creating google, or social media ads linking to information that will answer your customers question
When it comes down to it
Have fun with your new site, and be proud of it! Be excited about this easy way to relay information about your business to your customers.
If you allow your customers to see how much you enjoy your business, they will begin to have trust in your business.
